Artist’s Parlour & Retro Trailer Production Confirmation Details

Thank you for booking the Williamsburg Artist’s Parlour and Retro Trailer for your production! We’ve tried to answer all of your questions below, but let us know if there’s any further information you need. You can message us on the same place you’ve booked us, or Studio Manager Ellis is available by text at (703) 740-6734

Location Info

Our location is speakeasy-style and naturally a little hard to find. We are located in Williamsburg, on N 3rd between Kent and Wythe and every store in our building has the same address!

If you have any issues finding the space or will be arriving late, please call your onsite studio representative. Their contact details will be provided upon confirmation.

Please do not share exact address info with anyone other than your crew.

To buzz the studio: press 002, then the bell button. The immediate next door will bring you to the basement (you’ll see a big neon sign). Press 002, then the bell button again.

The buzzer is very loud, so if you’re doing audio recording with a big crew, we recommend having a PA manage entry / exit

Note: we are only able to extend the retro trailer for bookings 8+ hrs

Will anyone from the studio be available during my booking?

A staff member will be onsite or nearby for the duration of your booking. You will have total privacy, but for everyone’s security, they will be in the room at all times.

They’re usually posted up in the reception area, but can move to the storage area if you need a little more space.

Our studio assistants may be in training. If you have any questions or concerns, Studio Manager Ellis is always available via phone (703) 740-6734.

How is the traffic in Williamsburg?

Bad! Williamsburg has heavy traffic almost every time of day. Please take this into consideration when you are planning your journey.

Where can I park?

There is limited street parking in the area. The nearest lot is right next door at LAZ Kent Street Brooklyn, 53 N 3rd St. We recommend that essential crew who are driving use the lot because finding parking may cut into your booking time. Visit the link below to reserve your space in advance. Spaces may not be available without prior reservation.–ny/175-kent-avenue

How early can I arrive?

Due to scheduling, there will be no access to the studio more than 10 minutes before your confirmed start time.

If you anticipate needing additional time to load in or set up, please let us know by noon the day before your booking and we will add it to your booking if available.

If you do arrive in Williamsburg early and need to kill some time, there are many lovely coffee shops in the area.

Departure / Overtime

The clock doesn’t stop until your entire group is out of the studio. If our schedule allows, we may have a 10min grace period after your booking to break down / clean up. If you require additional time after that, we will add it to your booking. Our OT rate is 1.5x your hourly rate. If your shoot goes beyond 10pm for any reason, the rate is 2x. If you booked on a listing website, the total will be higher as the platforms add a processing fee.

Please do not assume overtime is available! If you think you’ll need more time than planned, check with Studio Manager Ellis for the day’s schedule.

Sound Recording

We have hosted several successful interviews and audio filming. But it’s important to know that this studio is not a sound stage.

Any sound from the hallways outside the studio and neighboring studios may be picked up on sensitive audio equipment. While normally the studio is pretty quiet, we cannot guarantee our neighbors will be. Possible sounds include voices, intermittent freight elevator, building entry, low music. Bookings with audio recording are made at your own risk and we cannot be liable for any time lost due to auditory disruptions.

Cleaning Expectations

The studio will be cleaned before you arrive. Our cleaning fee covers supplies, setup time and normal housekeeping after your shoot (sanitizing, sweeping, and taking out bagged trash). If mess is excessive (e.g. wax, spills on fabric pieces, excessive unbagged trash) we will charge an additional fee.

Covid Safety

Please let us know your covid protocol & expectations so we can adhere to them. While we will ensure the studio is safe before your arrival, it is the responsibility of the producer/organizer to make sure your crew is following current health guidelines. We ask that you please bring your own hand sanitizer, masks, and wipes for use during your shoot.

Do you have c-stands, sandbags, other equipment?

We currently have
4- adult c-stands + heads + arms
1- baby c-stand + head + arm
3- 20lb sandbags
Various tape and clamps

Please be sure to bring everything you need for your shoot. We have extremely limited storage space, so we do not stock much more in the way of props or equipment.

Is there a dressing room?

There are curtains and doors throughout the room so you can decide what area works best for you. We don’t recommend using the bathroom as HMU

What is the bathroom situation?

The bathroom is about a 100′ away, down the hall from the studio. As it is a shared bathroom, we have very little control over what it looks like, or what items you may encounter on your journey. The toilet and sink are clean. There’s TP, hand soap, and paper towels, and we’ve tried to dress it up with fun lighting, but please level your visual expectations to “dive bar after midnight”

Do you have Wifi and Speakers?

Things to Look At Studio
password: StudioS2

In-house Bluetooth Speaker: EDIFIER (usually found under Other Bluetooth devices)

Is it okay to use candles?

If you intend to use lit candles, you MUST use proper votives or holders to avoid wax spills. The metal holders tea lights often come in are not acceptable on their own. Practice fire safety and do not allow the flames to come near our fabric pieces.

Can I use the props or furniture?

You are welcome to use most of the props in the room at no additional cost. Any damages to props or furniture will incur a damages fee.

Giant Fabric Heart $35 rental / $350 replacement fee

Giant Purple Ottoman: Incredibly difficult to clean. Please no spills

Grandpa’s Green Chair: absolutely no food, drink, or fake blood anywhere near this chair. It is literally our grandparents’ chair from the 80s.

Where can I store stuff?

We have extremely limited storage space. Large items like bins and gear carts may not fit in the room if you’re setting up a lot of equipment. No items may be stored in the hallway at any time.

Can we smoke here?

Absolutely no tobacco may be used in any of our studios. If your shoot involves other types of smoking, you MUST let us know before we confirm the booking as this may require special considerations.

Can we drink here?

Because it is sometimes helpful for talent, we may allow highly responsible drinking limited to one drink per person per hour. This is not set up to be a nightclub.

What are the rules for adult content?

No sex acts may occur in this studio. If your shoot involves adult content, you MUST let us know the full extent before we confirm the booking.
